Stand-off in city square as kids wreak havoc

ROOF TILES THROWN AS YOBS OVERRUN FORMER DEBENHAMS BUILDING
A CORDON was in place for hours in a corner of Nottingham’s Old Market Square as police dealt with a group of trespassers in the former Debenhams building.
Six boys aged 12 to 14 were arrested after climbing on to the roof of the abandoned store.
Police were called to Long Row West, at about 2pm yesterday. Youths were spotted inside the building by onlookers and the force says “tiles and projectiles” were thrown from the roof.
An entrance to Nottingham Beach was taped off until 4.45pm as a large police and ambulance presence remained around the building.
