COURT DENIES DISGRACED BROADCASTER MORE TIME TO PREPARE A COUNTER-CLAIM
CONVICTED stalker Alex Belfield has been set a deadline to prepare his defence as one of his victims seeks compensation.
Belfield was jailed in September 2022 after what a judge described as “a vicious and continued campaign of abuse” which saw him target two BBC presenters, a videographer and a theatre blogger.
The former BBC Radio Leeds presenter was jailed for five years and 26 weeks in September 2022, with the court making it clear at the time that he would serve half of this in prison and the other half on licence.
He was reportedly released from HMP Fosse Way, in Leicestershire, on licence conditions on June 12. One of his victims, former theatre blogger Philip Dehany, is now seeking damages from Belfield, filing a case against him on March 14.
