Sale of crisis company's assets will leave £3m in unpaid debts

A DECADES-OLD firm that entered administration and made most of its staff redundant, owes tens of thousands to former employees and the taxman.

Haulage company B Taylor & Sons Transport, which had traded from Export Drive, Huthwaite, appointed administrators on Monday, June 9.

The family business was established in 1974 and provided transport and storage spaces across the UK as well as international freight services.

It employed 91 people, but most were made redundant when administrators were called in.

Documents submitted by the company’s liquidators, business advisory firm BDO, have now revealed the extent of the financial pressure the company faced.

A statement of the company's affairs, filed with Companies House, explained its assets would likely not raise nearly enough to pay back its creditors.
