DRIVERS' DELIGHT AS 'INSANE' ROUTE IS FIXED

Relief as potholes on 'one of city's worst roads' are repaired at last

Potholes in Queens Drive

NOTTINGHAM City Council has finally started work repairing a main road into the city centre after years of it being blighted with potholes - and drivers are delighted.

Queens Drive, between the A52 Clifton Boulevard and Wilford Road/ Waterway Street West, is renowned for its cracked and bumpy road surface, with motorists describing it as “insane” and “horrendous”.

But a resurfacing project, which began on January 19, should put an end to at least some of the issues.

Workers will be out between 8pm and 6am on weekdays until March 6 to fix the holes between Crossgate Drive and Castle Bridge Road, leading to Castle Marina Retail Park.

The road is currently closed when the work is taking place but, from February 6, it will be open again with just lane closures.

Queens Drive has long been rated among Nottingham’s worst roads for potholes.

“It is one of the worst roads in Nottingham,” said coach driver Julian Chatwin-White, who has lived near the road, in The Meadows, for nearly 20 years.

“It damages a lot of cars. It can cause accidents because quite often we've seen people swerve into your lane to try to avoid them.
