PARTY LEADER VISITS COUNTY IN LEAD UP TO MAY 1 POLLS
NIGEL Farage says Reform UK would enter into deals with other parties to run Nottinghamshire County Council after the local elections.
The party's leader was in Ashfield yesterday for a visit ahead of local elections being held across the country on May 1.
In Nottinghamshire, the county council is the only authority for which elections will take place this year.
The authority is currently controlled by the Conservatives, but past elections have sometimes resulted in coalition agreements having to be signed after no parties secured the 34 councillors needed for a majority.
With the current Conservative majority on a knife edge, Mr Farage has told the Post that a coalition-run council may be possible again after May 1.
The party leader said: "I know the Conservatives did very, very well here in 2021. It was kind of peak Boris.
"Tories have clear control of the council. What I'm going to tell you is that on the 2nd of May they will not, and I think we're going to do very, very well.
"Our ambition in Nottinghamshire would be to be the biggest party."
