Plan for 200 new homes on vacant land near station

A PATCH of land in Nottingham city centre could be transformed by a new housing scheme aiming to regenerate empty areas.

The vacant space, at the junction of Station Street and London Road close to Nottingham railway station, will be one of the four first sites transformed by part of the government's new drive to build homes across the UK.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves has confirmed 200 new homes will be constructed near The Barnum development, making use of no longer needed Network Rail land.

The Labour party Chancellor said: "For too long, surplus government-owned sites have gone underused, but they are a huge untapped resource that could create opportunities for the next generation of homeowners."
