Paterson making case for defence as Notts look up

MARTIN Paterson believes defensive consistency is key for Notts County moving forward, having shown signs of what they are capable of at the back.

Only a couple of teams have conceded fewer goals than the Magpies so far this term but Paterson wants more clean sheets.

It is fair to say that the team are still trying to find consistency in possession, as well. However, the defensive work is the foundation of most successful teams at this level, with star players at the other end working up some magic.

Notts have a few players who can put on an individual show to power the team forward but they need to win their battles at the other end to open the game up for their attacking players.
