PRISONS INSPECTORS FIND 'SOME HOPE', BUT PLENTY TO CRITICISE
TROUBLED Lowdham Grange Prison has been criticised by inspectors for continuing to deteriorate, despite multiple reports of its failings.
Some of the inspector's key concerns include the ease of access to drugs, a trebling in the use of force by staff and self-harm rates among the highest of all prisons in the country.
His Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons has found that the mismanagement started after the contract for the prison’s administration transitioned from Serco to Sodexo in 2023 and then to His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service in August last year, after safety concerns were raised for the 888 inmates held there.
