Man's mental illness blamed for offences of child porn

A SEX offender looked at horrific child abuse images after plunging into mental illness following the break-up of a relationship.

Nottingham Crown Court heard how David James, 27, of Parkdale Road, Bakersfield, admitted to the police that he was sexually aroused by watching sick images and videos of girls being raped and abused.

When he was arrested he made a “full admission” to the police telling them he had been searching for such material for around a year. He broke down and sobbed in the dock as the full extent of his offending was laid bare.

Imposing a three-year community order, Judge Stuart Rafferty KC said: “You blame yourself but what you should do is blame your illness. You were a good and worthy person and I have no doubt you can become that person again.
