OWNER OF 'PROPER' FISH AND CHIP SHOP FEELS IT HAS RIGHT INGREDIENTS TO SUCCEED IN TOUGH CLIMATE

CHIP shops are regularly closing or being put up for sale, but Lenton Fish Bar is bucking the trend, having recently opened.

With a lack of other fish and chip shops in the area, the owner is hoping to do well, but it's a tough industry.

Saif Rehman said: "We're seeing a lot of shops closing down. But that's also part of what drove the decision. Fish and chips are a cherished part of British food culture, and we wanted to show that with the right approach - quality ingredients, sustainable sourcing, and a bit of creativity - it's still possible to succeed.

"There's something comforting and nostalgic about it that people still connect with, and we felt we could bring that experience to life in a fresh way."
