Hospital assistants to go on week-long strike

UNION CLAIMS WORKERS ARE 'OWED THOUSANDS IN BACK PAY'

HUNDREDS of staff at Nottingham hospitals will go on strike for a week as a dispute over pay continues to ramp up.

Healthcare assistants at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) have been taking industrial action since April, walking out for a total of 10 days as the trust and Unison fail to reach an agreement.

Unison, which represents 890 of the workers, said they had been working “well above their salary band for years” but had not received back pay for extra responsibilities, some of which date back to 2018.
