Healthcare assistants plan five days of strikes over backpay

HUNDREDS of healthcare workers at two Nottingham hospitals will go on strike this month in a row over pay.

Healthcare assistants at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) will take industrial action for five days throughout April after the trust and union Unison failed to reach an agreement.
Unison, which represents 890 of the workers, said they had been working "well above their salary band for years" but had not received back pay for extra responsibilities, some of which date back to 2018.
NUH said it had agreed to increase the annual salary of the staff and provide them with backpay to August 2021, believing this a "fair and reasonable offer".
