GPs 'at capacity' - £89k needed to support expansion of estate

ALMOST £90,000 would be needed to support healthcare provision in a town where an 84-home development is planned.

- By RUCSANDRA MOLDOVEANU

Ashfield District Council has received a planning application from Bellway Homes for the development at Abbey Field Allotments on Lime Tree Road in Hucknall.

The homes will range from one to four bedrooms and will be accompanied by 165 parking spaces. Almost a fifth of the dwellings will be “affordable”.

But Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is concerned about the strain on healthcare services.

In response to the planning application, Sue Clarke, estates officer at ICB, explained that the 84 dwellings would bring, on average, 210 new patients to the area.

The Om Surgery, Torkard Hill Medical Centre, Oakenhall Medical Practice and Whyburn Medical Practice are the practices that would most likely be hit the most, should the plans be given the green light.
