TWO STORES SHUTTING, BUT NEW ONES ON WAY

Departures and arrivals for key shopping street

TWO more shops are to disappear from one of Nottingham's main shopping streets - but developers say new businesses are also on the way.

Independent vintage clothing and streetwear chain Garms is closing its Bridlesmith Gate branch on Sunday, April 27, while a few doors down, fashion store 18montrose will shut in June.

They join ladieswear store Stick and Ribbon, which shut last month, and menswear retailer Mint Duck, which opened on Middle Pavement in September 2022 and moved round the corner to Bridlesmith Gate last June before appointing liquidators two months ago.

However, Bridlesmith Gate is set to welcome two new businesses. ALB Group, which owns 14 properties on the street, said the Stick and Ribbon unit has now been let to Cawa Coffee.

The cafe has a branch in the Nottingham Station foyer and serves micro roasted Fair Trade Coffee, speciality teas, artisan bakery and patisserie goods.

The Garms unit, also owned by ALB Group, has received offers and the company hopes to reveal details "very soon".
