Council to update its vehicle depot in line with its 2030 net zero target

PLANS to make an outdated council depot more energy-efficient have been approved.

Ashfield District Council is upgrading its Northern Depot in Sutton-in-Ashfield, just off the A38, where it maintains its service fleet, including bin lorries, maintenance vans and street sweepers.

Some buildings will be demolished and a new garage of workshops built.

The depot will also include energy-efficient facilities to reduce carbon emissions and support electric vehicles.

This includes solar panels, air source heat pumps and more electric vehicle charge points.
