Bus drivers fear NCT takeover

BUS staff are said to be “deeply concerned” about losing their jobs as NCT prepares to take over their service next year.

Both NCT and current service operator Central Connect say they have shared information about the “dedicated recruitment route” which staff can use to transfer companies before the change comes into force from February.

But a leading union official says the formal Tupe process - used for staff when a business or part of a business transfers to another - is not being used by the current bus operator and that staff have “no clarity” on their futures.

NCT is taking over Central Connect’s number 90 service from Nottingham to Newark after the company said it was closing its Saxondale depot due to “significant inflationary pressures.”

Other services that will stop operating include the route from Gran-tham to Nottingham via Bingham.
