AN arsonist set his own house on fire and trapped a woman inside with a burning bin.
Clive Hawker, 54, set light to the property in Lingmell Close, West Bridgford, at around 3am on July 19, 2024.
Hawker had blocked his home's door with a flaming bin, which spread the blaze to his house and stopped the woman from escaping, police said. An officer entered the smoke-filled house and stayed with her in an upstairs bedroom until fire crews could help them get out.
She was taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
