Another week of diversions in store as repairs continue on sinkhole road

July 31, 2025

Nottingham Post

A MAJOR road is set to remain closed for at least another week after a collapsed water pipe caused it to sink.

Upper Parliament Street will remain closed until early August as Severn Trent continues to repair a sinkhole between Tollhouse Hill and Hurts Yard.

The road was closed off on Wednesday, July 23, when the collapsed water pipe was discovered as a sewer blockage was being investigated.

The road has been shut since, with traffic redirected down Market Street, which is usually only used by buses and trams, and Angel Row.
