2.99% council tax rise despite healthy finances

A 2.99% council tax rise is on the way for Gedling residents to help the borough authority "ensure financial sustainability

The increase was approved by Gedling Borough Council’s cabinet in a meeting last week.

For the financial year starting on April 1, council tax for the borough is planned to increase by £5.82 more a year for a Band D property.

Around half of council taxpayers in Gedling live in Band A or Band B homes.

Band A properties will pay £3.86 more a year, Band B £4.51 more, Band C £5.15, Band D £5.82, Band E £7.08, Band F £8.37, Band G £9.65 and Band H £11.58.

The final local government settlement - detailing how much funding councils will receive - was announced on February 9 by the Government. It is the first multiyear settlement in a decade, covering the 2026/27 and 2028/29 financial years.
