Punjab Govt Starts Direct Rice Seeding To Conserve 15-20% Water

In a step further aimed at saving 15-20 per cent precious groundwater of the state, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday started the Direct Sowing of Rice (DSR) which will act as a catalyst for checking the further depletion of groundwater besides supplementing the income of farmers in a big way.
CHANDIGARH:
In a statement issued here today, the Chief Minister said that after assuming the charge of his office his government has taken several path-breaking initiatives to safeguard the interests of the farmers.
