Launches Projects Worth Rs 18,530 Crore in Assam

- MPOST BUREAU

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Congress, alleging that the party had sided with terrorists nurtured by Pakistan rather than standing with the Indian Army. Addressing a large gathering in Mangaldoi, Darrang district, Modi also praised the Assam government for clearing encroached land of what he termed "infiltrators" and enabling local farmers to reclaim cultivation rights.

"The Congress, instead of supporting our armed forces, backed terrorists groomed by Pakistan. During 'Operation Sindoor', when our Army dismantled terror infrastructure across the border, Congress leaders were busy protecting infiltrators and anti-national forces," Modi claimed, crediting the operation's success to "the blessings of Ma Kamakhya."

The prime minister's remarks came as he launched development projects worth Rs 18,350 crore in Assam, a state heading for assembly elections next year.

Continuing his criticism, Modi recalled a video shown to him by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in which a senior Congress leader was purportedly heard ridiculing the government's decision to honour artists. Modi referred to the 2019 decision to confer the Bharat Ratna on Bhupen Hazarika, one of Assam's.
