AAP demands 10 seats, Cong offers 7 during alliance talks
September 04, 2024
|Millennium Post Delhi
As the Haryana Assembly elections approach, seatsharing negotiations between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have reached an impasse, with both parties hardening their stances.
-
The Congress has finalised candidates for 66 out of 90 seats, while the AAP, led by Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, continues to push for a greater share of seats.
Sources within the AAP reveal that the party is demanding 10 seats from the Congress. However, Congress is willing to offer only seven seats. This disagreement has led to multiple rounds of talks between senior leaders from both parties. Chadha and Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal have already met twice, with another meeting expected in the coming days.
AAP sources assert that their demand includes one seat from each of the 10 Lok Sabha constituencies in Haryana. The Congress, on the other hand, remains firm on its offer of seven seats, leading to a deadlock in negotiations.
