Unified ID system to curb abuse of PWD benefits
August 17 2025
|Manila Bulletin
The government's pilot rollout of the unified identification (ID) system for persons with disabilities (PWDs) will curb the abuse of the rights and benefits for this marginalized sector.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez stressed this while hailing the rollout of the program on Friday, Aug. 15.
"This unified ID will make life easier for our PWDs by ensuring that services and benefits reach them without delay, confusion, or unfair treatment. At the same time, it is a strong response to the longstanding abuse of fraudulent PWD IDs that hurt businesses and cast doubt on legitimate beneficiaries," Romualdez said.
"Through the initiative of the DSWD and the National Council on Disability Affairs, the theft and exploitation by some of the rights and benefits intended for our fellow citizens with disabilities will finally come to an end," noted the Leyte 1st District congressman.
