No slave is greater than his master

The international bestseller Tortured for Christ has inspired many to pray for the missionaries who go out of their way to witness to their faith in Christ “in season and out of season.”

It has never been easy to “be sent,” that is, to go out and work as a messenger of the Good News.

Christ has already foretold this: “No slave is greater than his master” (v 16). If he himself suffered rejection and even death, witnessing to the love of the Father for all the world, what should we expect as his servants?

And yet, we respond with courage to the invitation because we know that we are not doing the mission alone; the Spirit of Jesus is with us in this enterprise. There will be people who will reject us, but there will be those who will receive us too. And those who will receive us, receive Jesus, and the “one who sent him.”

We are inserted in an active dynamic of Trinitarian love because the message we carry with us is love itself. And love conquers all.
