He will guide you to all truth

Jesus declares earlier in the Last Discourse that he indeed is the way and the truth and the life (Jn 14:6). As he makes his farewell to his disciples and introduces to them the Holy Spirit that he is sending from the Father, he makes the parallel between him and the Spirit.

Just as he, Jesus, is “way and truth” so, too, is the Spirit “guiding the disciples to all truth.” Just as Jesus brings the fullness of life received from the Father, so, too, will the Spirit reveal to all that there is only one source of life: God.

The challenge for us now is whether we will have the openness to listen to the Spirit and allow ourselves to be led to newer and deeper understanding of our faith and its applications to the issues that confront us day by day.

REFLECTIONS TODAY

Let us invoke the Spirit’s gifts of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and counsel to accompany us in our life’s journey.
