DICT to extend tower licenses
August 19, 2025
|Manila Bulletin
The Department of Information and Technology is issuing a new circular to extend the validity of licenses for independent tower companies from five years to at least 15 years, aligning with the lifespan of the facilities they build.
“It does not make sense that they have a five-year license for facilities that have a lifespan of 25 to 50 years,” said DICT Secretary Henry Aguda during Globe Telecom’s 2025 Technology & Innovation Summit.
He said they have already drafted the new circular and are just finalizing how long the validity of the ITC Certificate of Registration will be, and the circular will be issued as soon as it is no longer a matter of “if” but “when.”
