Crooks were emboldened when Ombudsman fell silent - Remulla

The impunity of corruption started when the Ombudsman fell silent, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin C. Remulla said in a media interview.
With no Ombudsman prosecutors investigating cases of corruption and no one looking into their dealings, the crooks were emboldened to carry out their “kalokohan” (foolishness), Remulla told veteran journalist Luchi Cruz Valdes during the program “Usapang Real with Luchi”.
He cited an instance while he was still the secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ), when someone wanted to interfere with the Bureau of Immigration's (BI) project to expand and upgrade its electronic immigration gates (e-gates) that had a budget of P1.96 billion.
