Brazen attempt to free ‘crime boss’ foiled in Cavite
April 9, 2025
|Manila Bulletin
A daring attempt by a team of 11 armed men to free an alleged head of a criminal syndicate was foiled by the quick deployment of an elite unit from the National Capital Region Police (NCRPO).
And it was a bold mid-day rescue attempt on Monday, April 7, that looked more like it was a scene that belonged to an action-packed movie.
According to NCRPO Director Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin, jail personnel from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) were transporting a Chinese national Hu Yang, who was alleged to be a criminal syndicate boss, back to jail after he had just attended a court hearing.
The BJMP personnel were escorting Hu was back to the BJMP facility in Barangay La Huerta in Parañaque City.
It was around 12:30 p.m., when a black sedan and a multi-purpose vehicle blocked the path of the BJMP vehicle while it was traversing the service road of the Cavitex Road.
The armed men immediately opened fire at the BJMP vehicle, but the two jail guards escorting Hu refused to be cowed, and traded shots with the suspects.
