Baguio imposes speed limits
June 22 2025
|Manila Bulletin
The city government reminded motorists, especially tourists, about the strict implementation of City Ordinance No. 18, Series of 2019, or the Speed Limit Ordinance, and Ordinance No. 7-2010, or King of the Road Ordinance.
Under City Ordinance No. 18, motorists have a maximum speed of only 20 kilometers per hour within Central Business District and 30 kph on all inner roads.
Traffic enforcers will use speed guns to detect and monitor the speed of a vehicle more accurately and improve traffic enforcement operations.
Operations began on June 14 and 22 motorists were apprehended for registering speeds of 40 kph to 58 kph based on the Baguio City Police Office’s speed measuring gadgets.
The intensified enforcement of the ordinance and the purchase of speed guns were in response to the increase in accidents, most of which were recorded as being caused by “human error” related to over speeding.
BCPO chief Police Col. Ruel Tagel said the operation is part of the ongoing effort to maintain Baguio as a safe, pedestrian-friendly, and walkable city.
