THERE'S no escaping the fact that the cost of living has risen.

Your weekly shopping price watch

With prices constantly changing and supermarkets battling it out for our custom, it’s not always easy working out where you can make the biggest savings.

That's why we're constantly monitoring the prices of eight key items at the six main supermarkets to see how they compare.

Our weekly comparison tracks the cost of basic groceries including bread, milk, butter, beans, tea bags, coffee, chicken and mince. It includes the cheapest items available at each supermarket, including budget ranges such as Asda's Just Essentials and Morrisons’ Savers products.

For a second week running it's Aldi that's come out cheapest, with a drop in the price of its coffee to £1.99 a jar, making its bill £13.07.

It's now the cheapest place to find 200g of coffee, with the majority of retailers charging £2.30 and Lidl £2.09, which has helped it retain its position as second cheapest with a bill of £13.18.

Sainsbury's is working out as the most expensive, with a bill of £13.80. With the exception of one week in September, it's held the unenviable position every week since the end of June.
