THE shock return of Nene Macdonald is the standout talking point from the Salford squad named to take on Huddersfield.

Macdonald - selected in the 2024 Super League Dream Team - took unpaid leave from the club in June and returned to his native Australia to be closer to his family.

The star centre made six appearances early in the season, scoring five tries, before the sustainability cap limitations imposed on the club prevented his selection.

A short loan spell at Oldham allowed the 31-year-old to build up his match fitness, but the financial picture at the club did not enable him to return to the Red Devils fold.
