HE LEAPT FROM WINDOW WHEN POLICE ARRIVED TO INTERVENE IN MURDER BID

A COWARD who tried to kill his girlfriend after she caught him messaging other women on a dating app will spend more than a decade behind bars.
Michael Cosgrove twice strangled his then-partner after they returned from watching New Order play in Manchester last year, a court heard.
He told her ‘you are dead tonight’ before leaving the woman unconscious, as he jumped from a first-floor window when officers burst into her Stockport home.
Cosgrove denied trying to murder her, but after jurors saw through his lies earlier this year, he was sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday.
Prosecuting, Chloe Fordham said the couple had been arguing in the days leading up to the concert, after the victim discovered Cosgrove had been messaging other women on a dating app on August 19 last year.
The pair were said to be ‘getting on well’ at the Wythenshawe Park gig on August 24, 2024, which they attended with the victim's mum and stepdad - but events turned sour as they returned to the woman’s Heald Green home.
