A FORMER footballer who played for Glasgow Rangers and Liverpool and finished his career at Macclesfield Town has sadly died at the age of 85.
-
Willie Stevenson made more than 100 appearances for the Gers, lifting the league title in 1959 and the Scottish Cup the season after.
The Leith-born player moved to Liverpool where he made 241 appearances for the club and scored 18 goals. This included the penalty that sealed a 2-0 semi-final win over Chelsea on the way to Liverpool's first FA Cup success in 1965.
