Repairs to bridge are finally set to be over

AN END could finally be in sight for long-running roadworks on a busy route that have remained unresolved for an 'unacceptable' length of time.

It is estimated that repairs to Mill House Bridge, on the A523 between Adlington and Macclesfield, will be completed by mid-October.

'Temporary' traffic lights were installed at the site more than a year ago following the discovery that a section of the arch that supported south-bound traffic had collapsed.

Repair work began in the last week and is expected to take 16 weeks.

In the last 12 months residents have become increasingly frustrated with the situation, blaming the light for lengthy delays.

MP Tim Roca even raised the issue in Parliament, branding delays as 'simply unacceptable'.
