Police amnesty aiming to get ninja swords off the streets

DANGEROUS weapons can be handed over as part of a month-long ninja sword amnesty by police.
Macclesfield Police Station, on Brunswick Street, is a drop-off location throughout July for the items in a bid to get them off the streets.
Cheshire Police is taking part in Home Office scheme and compensation can be claimed by owners. It comes ahead of a change in the law, on August 1, which makes it illegal to possess a ninja sword.
It is already a criminal offence to carry the weapons in public.
