Tiny fish that made world headlines for making sound as loud as pneumatic drill came from Bolton aquarium

TINY fish from a Bolton aquarium have been making big waves across the world.

The Danionella cerebrum made headlines after scientists in Berlin discovered it can make sounds as loud as a pneumatic drill.

But what many people may not know is that the fish used in the experiment originally came from Bolton's Central Library and Museum's aquarium.

Since acquiring the fish in 2006 and breeding them soon after, the small creatures have been visited by experts from across the globe.

In 2015 the team from Berlin came to learn more about their care and prepare to transport some of the fish back to Germany for studies, where they have been creating a stir ever since.
