Ten Hagmay have to ditch rotation for a settled scoring attack
October 13, 2024
|MEN on Sunday
IT is now increasingly likely that Erik ten Hag will take charge of Manchester United's clash with Brentford at Old Trafford next Saturday.
United chiefs held an executive committee meeting in London on Tuesday and the club has remained tight-lipped ever since. It is understood those closest to Ten Hag expect him to remain in charge for now.
As a result, Ten Hag will press ahead with his plans for the visit of Brentford as normal. The visit of the Bees, however, is already important enough to be built as a must-win.
Anything less than a victory will only fuel further calls for Ten Hag to be sacked. United have seven games between the restart and the November international break and it could be Ten Hag's last chance to prove he is the right man for the job.
But if United are going to string a positive run of results together goals are what they need. Scoring has been their biggest issue so far this season, highlighted by their tally of five from their seven league games.
Impacted by Rasmus Hojlund's unavailability at the start of the season, Joshua Zirkzee requiring time to settle in and their wingers blowing hot and cold, Ten Hag has not been able to rely on a settled forward line thus far.
