THESE days, when we're in the mood for a takeaway, we simply open our smartphone and choose from the vast list of outlets that advertise on apps like Just Eat, Deliveroo or Uber Eats.

Everything from burgers and pizza, to more cuisines from all around the world are now at our fingertips.

With the rise of the internet in the 2000s, food delivery services took a major leap forward. This has only become more popular since the pandemic as people began to rely on food delivery services during lockdowns.

However, back in the 1980s and 1990s, ordering a takeaway still often meant putting on a coat and going to the actual restaurant, or chippy, where you waited until it was cooked before bringing it home.
