NEW homes are being built on a piece of land that has stood derelict for years in a popular area of Liverpool.

- By JAMIE GREER

For many years, the corner of Tramway Road and Aigburth Road in Aigburth was home to the St Charles Parochial Club, a social club next to St Charles Borromeo Church.

By 2014, however, it had been knocked down and the site has been empty ever since. It is a few minutes walk from Lark Lane, home to many of south Liverpool’s best-known bars and cafes, as well as Sefton Park.

The area has been increasingly popular with house buyers in recent years due to its mix of hospitality venues, green space and transport links.
