'Shouts and smashed glass' heard

- By BEN HASLAM

SHOUTING and the sound of smashed glass was heard moments before a man was stabbed near a JD Wetherspoon pub.

Merseyside Police is appealing for information after a man was attacked near The Clairville, on Wallasey Road, Liscard, at around 1.25am on Saturday.

Police confirmed a 32-year-old man sought help in the pub after suffering injuries to his hand and ear. He was taken to hospital where he is being treated for wounds which are not serious. Extensive enquiries are underway, and officers are carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the local area and are reviewing CCTV footage.

When the ECHO arrived at the scene on Saturday morning, there was a cordon in place across the front of the venue, with part of the pavement closed off to the public. Scientific support officers were at the scene, with blood visible on the ground outside the pub.
