'We're out of our minds with worry'
October 15, 2025
|Liverpool Echo
“WE'RE going out of our minds with worry, we've not heard anything.”
This is how terrified neighbours described the current situation in Dovecot after a grandmother was killed in her own home. The discovery of Rose Johnston's body sparked a murder investigation which has so far led to no arrests.
Merseyside Police descended on Ancroft Road shortly after midday on Saturday, October 4, after Rose was found dead in her home.
A Home Office postmortem examination found her cause of death was a blunt force head injury.
Since her death a week and a half ago, Merseyside Police has issued two appeals, with her family also paying tribute to the 68-year-old who was described as 'quiet' and 'generous.'
Detectives investigating Rose's death say they are 'keeping an open mind' as to what happened.
Neighbours told the ECHO they remain concerned about the situation as they await more details of what happened to Rose. One woman said: “We're going out of our minds with worry, we've not heard anything.
"It's quite worrying that police aren't telling us anything. All they're saying is don't worry but we can't help but worry.”
