Parking cost to rise by up to 60% today

THE cost of parking in Liverpool will increase by as much as 60% from today.

At the end of last year, it was revealed that Liverpool City Council would be hiking the cost of both on-street and off-street parking around the city centre. The council says the move will bring its fees into line with other similar-sized cities and is only the second rise in over a decade.
The new charges, which are set to begin from today, will affect multi-story car parks, surface car parks and on-street parking bays. The Council controls just 28% of parking across the city.
