FORMER Everton player Shane Duffy, who was handed his senior debut by David Moyes, has apologised after taking aim at one of his own club's fans in a foulmouthed outburst online.

- By CHRIS BEESLEY

Derry-born Duffy, who made his professional bow for the Blues as a substitute for Sylvain Distin just 18 minutes into a 1-0 Europa League win over AEK Athens in the Greek capital on December 2, 2009, with Moyes’ men already ahead through Diniyar Bilyaletdinov's sixth minute strike, went on to make 10 appearances and describes his formative years under his Glaswegian gaffer as “a special time in my career.” Now 33, the veteran centre-back's words towards a supporter of his current side Norwich City were rather less glowing as he got embroiled in a late-night row on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
