Crosby delighted with Rovers performance

TRANMERE boss Andy Crosby says his side's performance was just as important as the result in Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Blackpool at Prenton Park.

Goals from Patrick Brough and Joe Ironside mean the hosts top their EFL Trophy group, ensuring they will receive a home draw in the next round.

And, despite the manager insisting the main objective was to win the game, Crosby reckons Rovers’ dominant display was equally as pleasing as the points.

He said: “It was about more than just the result. It was about how we tried to do things, how we tried to play with and without the ball.

“It was a really good performance, we had opportunities and long spells of possession. But we have to now go and back that up.

“The only way you buy belief in the group and confidence in the supporters is by gaining momentum. We haven't built that for long enough periods of time, we're aware of that.
