LIVERPOOL is to host an exhibition of Chinese fine art from its twin city, Shanghai.

- By PAUL MCAULEY

The showcase, drawn from the Shanghai Art Collection Museum, was announced during the Prime Minister's recent visit to China, with a UK delegation including Laura Pye, the director of National Museums Liverpool.

Opening in October, the exhibition will highlight traditional Shanghai craft arts, including ceramics, enamelware, lacquer work, jade and stone carving, and metal sculpture.

Many of these pieces reflect centuries of artistic mastery.
