CAMERAS MAY BE PART OF CRACKDOWN AFTER COUNCIL'S £26M UPGRADE

- By EDWARD BARNES Local Democracy Reporter

Call for greater focus on high street parking

Cars parked on Vincent Street, off Grange Road, in Birkenhead

CAMERAS could be brought in to crack down on people parking on a Merseyside high street.

The move is to tackle issues seen since Wirral Council spent £26m improving Grange Road in Birkenhead.

Councillors are being asked to allow officers to enforce existing restrictions using cameras and stop motor vehicles from parking on the road.

The only cars, vans or lorries allowed access are for businesses loading and unloading before 10.30am and after 4.30pm every day.

Wirral Council said the rules have been in place since 1978 and there are no planned changes.
