It was a goal-laden finish to Dumbarton Ladies’ first campaign under the club name as they finished off their SWFL West season in the sunshine.

- JACK CRANMER

They were taking on champions Bishopton Ladies in Erskine, hoping to spoil the day for a side who had only dropped points once this season.

The girls would take the game to the table toppers from the offing, maintaining possession and making several openings before after only ten minutes Gemma Smith, playing on the right-hand side of an advanced midfield three, chipped Bishopton keeper Cerys MacIntyre with an audacious effort from just inside the right-hand side of the box to give the girls a deserved lead.

This strike was her ninth of the campaign. Dumbarton would be unlucky not to add to their lead in the following minutes with efforts from both captain Eva McInnes and Smith going just wide.
