CANCER Research has announced plans to close 88 of its shops by May next year, the first stage of a plan to cut nearly half of its 600 high street outlets.

- By STAFF REPORTER

The shops in South Parade, Melton, and Bell Street Wigston, will be among the casualties as the charity seeks to offset rising National Insurance contributions, inflationary pressures and changes in consumer behaviour. A further 100 are planned to close by April 2027.

These changes will affect about 600 staff members and up to 3,000 volunteers.
