Textile artist's legacy explored in show at museum

IN THE 18TH CENTURY MARY LINWOOD WAS CELEBRATED FOR EMBROIDERED MASTERPIECES

THE work textile artist Mary Linwood is being celebrated in a new exhibition.

Mary Linwood: Art, Stitch and Life, at Leicester Museum and Art Gallery, is the first retrospective of the artist's work since 1945 and will feature 14 embroidered works from the Leicester Museums collections.

Alongside these historic pieces will be new textile artworks by the exhibition's curator - artist Ruth Singerthat reflect on Linwood's life and legacy.
