No more closures as work on bypass takes a major step forward

WORK on a new bypass has taken a step closer to completion.

The Melton Mowbray Distributor Road is intended to divert traffic from the town centre and accommodate extra vehicles resulting from housing developments.

At nearly 4.5 miles in length, the road is the biggest ever highways project carried out by Leicestershire County Council. It is expected to be completed early next year.

The work to date has included a number of disruptions for drivers to allow the route, and the roundabouts and bridges scattered along it, to be constructed.
